Hi there Hazel, I'd like to wish you a very warm welcome to planDisney from one Canadian to another!
I bet you're like every other fellow Ontarian dreaming of the warmer weather in Orlando amidst all of this snow that we've got - and it's always a good time to plan ahead about how to pay for your next
Disney Resort Hotel stay!
Taking a look at
the forms of payment currently accepted at Walt Disney World Resort, MasterCard is definitely one of the available options. I spoke with a
Guest Relations Cast Member who was able to confirm that guests have been able to use their prepaid cards to make payments; they did however note that certain cards may have their own limitations, depending on where they were purchased. They recommended first attempting to set it as a payment method on the
My Disney Experience mobile app, as well as confirming that the address matches the same one used when the card was activated.
I have personally experienced one or two situations in which I was unable to use a virtual prepaid card and the way that I have since been able to avoid this was by using them to
purchase Disney Gift Cards instead. These have been very useful in being able to pay for my Resort stays,
merchandise purchases and
dining experiences at Walt Disney World Resort. Something to keep in mind for fellow Canucks is that if these Gift Cards are purchased at a Canadian retailer, the card will be locked into the particular exchange rate on the date on which it is first used. (This may be subject to change in the future, but some savvy Canadian travelers have been able to luck out on days when the exchange rate has worked better to their advantage!)
Hope this has helped you in some way Hazel, and please don't hesitate to come on back to planDisney to
ask me any more questions ahead of your next trip down.
As I always say at the end of every great vacation adventure: Splurging on things at first seems nice - until it's time to pay the price!
