Can I pay the purchases made with my magic band on cash in my Disney Hotel? If this is possible, how can the magic band would know if I want to pay in cash? Thanks!

    Hello Julia,

Welcome back to planDisney and thank you for asking us another great question about your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort.

As a Canadian, I really appreciate being able to charge all of my purchases back to my Disney Resorts Collection hotel folio. Because I have to deal with pesky exchange rate issues when I travel to the United States, I really appreciate being able to convert all of my purchases in a single transaction, rather than bit by bit as I go.

Sometimes, however, I’ll have Disney Gift Cards or even American cash with me and I’d like to use that to clear off my Guest account. Here’s how it works: you pay for your purchase with your MagicBand or Key to the World Card, as usual. Then, you go to your Lobby Concierge desk that night and tell them that you’d like to pay for your purchases in cash. They’ll take whatever amount you give them and apply it to your account.

I believe that you will still need to associate a credit card with that account in order to have charging privileges during your stay, but it may be possible to put a “deposit” in cash down when you check in, instead. If you have any questions about the process, I encourage you to ask the Cast Member who will help you when you check in, or any member of your hotel’s Concierge staff throughout your stay.

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
