How do I pay for my Disney vacation?

    Hiya James,

Welcome to planDisney! When it comes to a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, my motto is “treat yourself.” That means all the incredible dining, resort hotels, and Enchanting Extras I can fit into my itinerary. It can get pretty pricey when you add it all up, so a good grasp of a budget is always essential.

James, I’m not sure from your question if you are asking about making payments toward an already existing reservation or are looking to budget for a future one, so I’m going to stick to talking about the former. If you are looking for tips for budgeting so you can fit in that Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party and enjoy your trip with Hakuna Matata, please come back and see me.

Now if you have a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation Package (a package that combines your Theme Park tickets and a stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel), I have a really quick answer for you in terms of paying for your vacation. Guests with a Vacation Package can make payments towards their vacation package balance up until 30 days before their trip through My Disney Experience. To do this, log onto your My Disney Experience account and locate your resort hotel details under “My Plans.” Click the blue button next to your reservation, and you will be directed to a new page to view your remaining balance and make a payment. See easier than reclaiming Pride Rock from Scar and the Hyenas. Now if you booked your resort hotel in a separate transaction from your Theme Park tickets, you likely have a room-only reservation. Guests with room-only reservations cannot make additional payments towards their resort hotel reservations (any final remaining balance will be due in full at check-in). My family and I often have room-only reservations, and what works best for us is to use Disney Gift Cards to help us budget for our trip. We research the various aspects of our trip, make an estimated budget and then purchase Disney Gift Cards over time to cover that estimation. We then combine the Disney Gift Cards so we don’t have much to manage and are ready to go!

Whether you have a Walt Disney World Vacation Package or a room-only reservation, I hope this was helpful, James. If you need help processing a payment or are unsure what type of reservation you have, you can contact a Cast Member in Disney Resort Hotel Reservations for additional assistance.

    Happy Planning,
