Ahoy There, Arlene!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for stopping by with your question. How exciting that you are thinking of sailing to the great wide somewhere on a
Disney Cruise Line cruise! Our family has done this several times, and it is a wonderful way to explore dazzling places we never knew while being immersed in the magic of Disney.
Arlene, yes, you can do
a combination of Disney Vacation Club Points (which will be converted to Reservation Points) and "cash" (even though you will be using a credit card) to book a Disney Cruise Line cruise. The one thing to note about this is that at least one person's full cruise fare must be paid for with Reservation Points, and everyone else can be paid for with "cash." Of course, you could use your DVC Points for multiple Guests' fares - but a Guest reservation can't be split (in other words, paid for half in cash and half with Reservation Points.)
We did this with our last sailing. We used our Vacation Points to pay for our son's reservation. Then, we did a combination of cash and a Disney Gift Card for the rest of us.
To do this, you would just need to call
Member Services who can assist you with the booking. When you use Disney Vacation Club Points (either in full or in part) for booking a Disney Cruise Line vacation, Member Services will handle the entire reservation for you. They can also assist you with questions about your booking, even after it is confirmed. They are like Fairy Godparents - all knowing, and with a "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo," they make your vacation dreams come true!
I hope this helps you, Arlene. If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, sail back here to see me and I'll be so happy to help you.
Anchors Aweigh!
