Hello Trisha and thanks for stopping by planDisney!
Trisha, while I do love
Disney bus transportation,
monorail service,
water taxis and (
of course) the
Disney Skyliner, there is nothing quite like strolling from your Disney Resorts Collection hotel into one of the theme parks! Being on your own pace adds an intangible charm to start your park day that always puts a smile on my face so I’m excited that you’re asking about the new walkway from
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to
Magic Kingdom Park.
Trisha, I confirmed with a Cast Member that the sign you saw is correct. Officially the walkway opens 30 minutes prior to park opening. While this likely isn’t the news you were hoping for, let me offer you a light at the end of the…
well, walkway.
When my family and I were last at the Walt Disney World Resort and were using the Disney bus transportation,
the start time for buses to pick up is officially 45 minutes prior to park opening, but as my family of Mouseketeers was eager to start our day we showed up at the bus stop even earlier than recommended and were pleasantly surprised when a bus rolled up early. Now, Trisha, this did NOT happen every day and is not guaranteed, but since you’re hoping to arrive as early as possible at Magic Kingdom Park, I recommend heading to the walkway at your desired time with hope in your heart (
but realizing you may need to pack your patience and wait).
Trisha, I'll be wishing on a star that the Fairy Godmother waves her wand over the walkway and grants a few extra minutes to start your day early. Whenever you make it into Magic Kingdom Park, make sure to savor every Magical moment from that first glance of Cinderella Castle to the final steps you take on Main Street, U.S.A.
Please come on back to planDisney with any other questions because just like the Fairy Godmother, we love to help make dreams come true.
