The past 9 years we have traveled to WDW the last week in Jan. Due to school schedules (DD 13 and DD 8) we need to change our vacation week. Our school starts after labor day. We were thinking last part of August. Any thoughts? I am worried about HEAT

    Hi Deborah -

I totally understand your concern. We used to visit Walt Disney World in early May each year, but once my kids started school, that wasn't possible. Instead, we now travel over Thanksgiving.

Late August doesn't have the same crowds as earlier in the summer, because many schools are already back in session. However, it definitely can be hot. The average high temperature that week is in the early 90s and the average low is in the mid-70s.

There are things you can do to deal with the heat if you plan in advance. It's a good idea to take a pool break in the afternoons when it's really hot outside. You can also try to do outdoor activities earlier in the morning or later in the evenings, and stay in the air conditioned, indoor queues in the hotter weather.

I hope that helps you make a decision. Have a great vacation!
