Hello, and a warm welcome back to
planDisney, Christina!
Christina, as you are well-versed with Disney’s
Disability Access Service (DAS), rest assured, both the DAS and the
Disney Genie+ Service work independently of each other and can be used and managed on your My Disney Experience App during your visit. Both will present themselves in your attraction flow list for you to see. Both systems facilitate an efficient and very streamlined theme park experience. During our recent visit with our son, we experienced almost twice as many attractions within a shorter period, enabling us to return to our Disney Resort Hotel for a break, and we just loved it!
Our observations utilizing both the DAS and the Disney Genie+ service was that for our DAS return time and our Disney Genie+ Service arrival window, we were directed to attractions that offered a Lightning Lane entrance. We also had the opportunity to purchase
Individual Lightning Lanes for those super popular attractions and join a Virtual Queue when available. Using both systems was extremely helpful to us always keeping our son’s special needs at the forefront of our day.
Christina, I am confident you’ll be just fine utilizing both services, and you’ll be able to wait for your DAS return time or Disney Genie+ service arrival window while tending to the needs of your child in a more comfortable place.
I’m not sure if you have read up on the recent enhancements to the DAS accommodation, but you will be able to pre-register for the DAS via a virtual chat online, with the
DAS Advance anywhere from 30 days up to 2 days before your arrival. The neat thing about this virtual chat is that you’ll be able to pre-select two (2) DAS return times for each day of your valid theme park admission, pending availability, right from the comfort of your home with the guidance of a knowledgeable and helpful Cast Member.
With the DAS Advance, when you arrive at the theme park, you’ll have your two (2) pre-selections, and you can proceed with requesting a third DAS return time, even though the two pre-selections have not elapsed. If you register for the DAS in person, by visiting a Guest Relations Lobby inside any Walt Disney World Resort theme park, you won’t be able to secure two (2) pre-selections, but you can with the assistance of a Cast Member pre-select your first DAS return time and then self-select one DAS return time, at a time via the My Disney Experience App for the remainder of your day. Just be sure your child with the DAS accommodation is present when it's time to redeem the DAS return time.
To prepare for the DAS Advance or In-Person Registration please ensure you have created your travel party in your
Family & Friends list, you have secured your
Disney Park Pass Reservations for each day of valid theme park admission for all in your travel party, and that your child who needs the DAS accommodation is present for the consultation.
I hope this information is helpful, Christina, and I would be honored to offer any further assistance with the remainder of your plans, thank you so much!
Jacqueline
