My passport is expired. As an adult, can I use my birth certificate and driver's license for boarding to the Bahamas? Will I need my marriage certificate too if my driver's license has my married last name?

Ahoy there, Michelle! Welcome aboard here at planDisney! Looks like in just a few days, you'll be telling everybody you're on your way to an incredible Disney Cruise Line vacation! As I sit here on yet another chilly Midwestern April day, I'm so happy that you'll be getting sun, sand, and the amazing Disney service that keeps us coming back time after time!

You've set a perfect course so far, Michelle - and it looks like you have a weather eye on the horizon for any stormy seas resulting from travel documentation woes! While I always suggest traveling with a passport, I totally understand what it's like to realize yours is expired! That said, according to the US State Department and Disney Cruise Line's Travel Documentation requirements, since you are on a "closed loop" cruise (one that starts and ends in a US port) you have options!

My suggestion would be to bring your government-issued ID, birth certificate, marriage license or certificate with you on your cruise when you arrive at the port - be sure you haven't packed them away in your checked luggage! If your name change was recent, and your current legal name differs from the one that's on your Disney Cruise Line reservation, I'd call a crewmember to make sure your current name and your reservation name match! Note that if they must change it, there's a possibility of a small fee for this since you're within 30 days of your sail date - just so you know!

You probably are also aware that hold times have currently been a bit...lengthy...but the crew members are working their magic every day to address Guest's needs. I've had luck calling right when the phone lines open at 8 a.m. Eastern time, as well as around 11 a.m. when that "first group" of guest calls are finished. Pack a bit of pixie dust, dance to the hold music, and hopefully your wait will fly by!

Thank you so much for sailing my way with your question, Michelle! If any others bubble to the surface between now and your sailing, please pull alongside us at planDisney again!

Here's to smooth sailing, the open sea, and magical memories!
