If my party’s tickets are all linked, do we need to buy genie+ for everyone? My mother in law will not ride certain rides so I don’t want to pay for her to not use it. Can only the people wanting to use it buy it?

Hey Howdy Hey Cassie and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you will have a good crowd of family and or friends on your upcoming trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. One of the best parts about planning your trip is the ability to connect your entire party through your My Disney Experience account. You can share plans but also have time to do things separately. This includes navigating the theme parks and with purchases of Genie+. Thank you for stopping by with your question about Genie+ purchases. I will be happy to give you more information on the specifics.

You will have the ability to purchase Genie+ on the day of your theme park visit. When you choose to purchase Genie+, you will also be asked which members of your party you would like to purchase this benefit for. You can select everyone or only a few people as you like. So if it is just 1 or 2 Guests in your party you did not want to purchase Genie+ for, you do not have to.

This is similar as well when making Lightning Lane Entrance selections. When you do go to make your selections, you will be asked which members you want to make the selection for. You will be given the option of all the members of your party with Genie+ access. So you all will still have the option of experiencing everything together or having a few times where the group is separate.

I am sure you are aware, but timing is everything when maximizing your selections for Genie+. You can make your first selection starting at 7:00 AM EST on the day of your purchase and the next available time is either 2 hours after the park opens to the general public or after you redeem your selection. Sometimes it is nice to stack your Lightning Lane selections to later morning and early afternoon when the crowd levels are the highest. You will be able to experience more attractions early as the crowds are building in traditional stand-by lines and when the crowd levels peak, you will be hitting your Lightning Lanes to keep the wait time short and your theme park experience efficient!

I hope this helps you set your plans better. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out and let us know, we are always happy to help!

    Have a Magical day,

    Nick
