W & D After Party 2014 spouse had park tix & After Party tix. Arrived Epcot 3:30 p.m. Took 1 hr to get in to park b/c no one knew how to do both regular & party admissions. Sent out of park to race staging area then back to park 2x. Advice?

    Hi, Anne!

I'm sorry to hear your husband ended up running a race of his own trying to get his ticket media sorted out last year. I'm sure the back and forth did not make for a pleasant experience for him.

I can tell you what I think caused the problem based on my knowledge of how special ticketed events work. I'm assuming your husband was wanting to use both tickets at the same time when he entered at 3:30? In most cases event tickets do not work at the entrance touch points until the time notated on the ticket (or at the early entry time if that is an option). Similar to when guests attend, say, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, those tickets do not work for entry until the scanners are recalibrated and "programmed" to accept them at a certain time. In addition, there is a designated location at the entrance where party guests will scan their tickets to enter. Your husband possibly also had a Cast Member that wasn't quite familiar with the Finish Line Party entrance procedures.

Here is my advice if he is choosing to utilize day guest admission and a Finish Line Party Ticket:

    • Upon arriving, enter Epcot as normal and enjoy his day.

    • Early entry for this event begins at 7:00pm and Epcot closes for day guests at 9:00pm - sometime between those hours, have your husband exit and reenter using the designated area with his Finish Line Party Ticket. Guests that attend Magic Kingdom for the day, but are attending a special event party that evening, even need to get their party tickets scanned at the appropriate time at the entrance.

    • I do think your husband should still inquire with a Cast Member upon his initial entry, but now he'll know what to do if he gets redirected like he did last year.

I hope this helps, Anne! Please let me know if you should have any additional questions. I want your husband to have an enjoyable time, too!
