Hi Shannon: I would call the Disney reservations line to record your request for connecting, adjoining, or nearby rooms. Explain the exact reason for your request. The reservationist may tell you that they will note your request but that it won't be guaranteed, but in my experience, if Disney is able to honor your request, they will make every effort to do so. Within a week before you arrive, I would call your Resort directly to note your request again.
When you arrive at the Resort, hopefully you will find the rooms you requested. If Disney is not able to accommodate your request upon check-in, inquire if nearby or adjoining rooms will be available in a few hours. Such flexibility may help Disney secure the desired rooms.
Good luck and enjoy your vacation.
