My party includes two children (<8yo) and two adults that recently had gastric bypass surgery. We know we want to do a few table service dinners. Is there a DDP option that makes sense for us, or would we be better off just going a la carte?

Hello Robert, and welcome back to PlanDisney!

For me, one of the best parts of any Walt Disney World trip is the food! I’ve definitely planned entire days around a reservation at Tiffins Restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom or Sebastian’s Bistro at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.

That said, while I really enjoy the convenience and value of the Disney Dining Plan, it may not be the best fit for someone who’s recently had gastric bypass surgery. From personal experience, I know how limiting post-surgery portions can be. With the standard dining plan including a quick-service meal, a table-service meal (complete with entrée and dessert), and a snack each day, that’s likely far more food than those who have had bypass surgery can comfortably enjoy.

Since everyone on the same package must be on the same dining plan, I’d suggest skipping it for this trip. You can still enjoy all the delicious options at your own pace. Also, most table service locations (that are not all you care to eat) are happy to have people share dishes. This can be incredibly helpful to those who enjoy smaller portions.

I hope this helps with your planning!
