    We have a party of 9 and are on the dining plan. Total, there are 4 households represented. We know we will have 18% gratuity applied to meals and each want to pay our own tips. Can we use our magic bands for tips? If so, how can we split the gratuity?

    Hi Erin, 

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your question! Because we tend to visit Walt Disney World Resort with different groups of friends for each visit, I’ve become somewhat of an expert when it comes to splitting the bill at various restaurants and at dividing everything up amongst all of the people who are dining with us. 

    What should happen at most restaurants you will visit: each family with a Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation will receive their own bill for their meal, regardless of whether they are on the Disney Dining Plan or not. Because you’re a group of more than 6 Guests dining together, the gratuity will be included on that bill and divided up according to the number of Guests on each bill. Make sure to tell your server how you would like the gratuities to be divided up among your party's members when you place your order.

    When it comes time for you to pay for your meal, you can use either cash, credit card or MagicBand (linked to a credit card placed on your Walt Disney World Resort hotel account) to pay for the meal’s gratuities, along with any other items that you may have ordered that aren’t covered by your Disney Dining Plan Table Service Entitlements.
