Our party of 5 is coming to Disneyland end of March, 2 of us have magic bands from a previous trip to Disney World. Will they work for this trip? Are magic bands recommended or necessary? Want to make it as easy as possible.

    Welcome to planDisney, Natasha!

I'm so happy to hear that you are visiting the Disneyland Resort in just a few weeks! Don't miss the "Magic Happens" Parade at Disneyland Park. It is one of my favorites and if there is more than one showing, I often watch both during my visit. Yes, it's that good. You can check the Disneyland Mobile App for showtimes.

Regarding your question, I understand you have MagicBands that you have used at Walt Disney World Resort. Currently, only MagicBand+ is supported at Disneyland Resort. If you have a MagicBand+, you can link them to the Disneyland App.

To link a MagicBand+ to the Disneyland App:

    1. Navigate to the MagicBand+ section in the app from the tribar (≡) menu
    2. To add a device, press the + icon at the top-right-hand corner of the screen
    3. Assign the MagicBand+ to a Ticket of a guest in your party
That's it! Do not forget to adjust MagicBand+ settings if needed, check battery status, and so on.

While a MagicBand+ may not be necessary for a successful trip to Theme Parks, it can make your visit more convenient and effortless. With MagicBand+ you can enter the parks, scan into Lightning Lane entrances, link your Disney PhotoPass photos, and more!

I hope you find this helpful, Natasha. I wish you the happiest visit to The Happiest Place on Earth!

    Your Pal,
    Alejandra
