Hi there, if we are a party of 3 coming to Disney and one of us cannot come after we pay within the 30 day window of arrival, can that portion for the person not coming be refunded?

    Hello Victoria!

Welcome to planDisney! I hope that everyone is able and willing to make it to Walt Disney World for your trip!

It's so sad when someone cannot join you on a long-awaited holiday but there are some solutions for certain situations. I do not know exactly what kind of package you purchased but if you are aware of the 30-day cancellation rule then I'm assuming you have a Walt Disney World Resort Package that includes Resort Hotel stay and Tickets.

If you did purchase a Walt Disney World Resort Package you are allowed to change, cancel or modify your package up to 30 days before your arrival and have all money refunded. Once it is now less than 30 days and up to two days before you check in you can cancel your whole package and get a refund but you will lose your $200 deposit. Now, if you want to just modify your package by removing a person if it is less than 30 days you can do so but there is a $50 change fee. The good news, modifications to a package can be done up to the day before. If you would like, you can replace that person who can't come with another friend or family member and there is a chance if you do these changes on the same call with Walt Disney World Reservation staff you may be able to waive that $50 fee! Don't forget though, that cancellations of the whole package within two days of your arrival will mean you lose all that you paid. That would be so unfortunate so I advise you to make sure you reach out to Walt Disney World Resort Reservations as soon as you can to make changes to your reservations and see how they can assist you! Also, keep in mind that all fees and prices can change at any time.

I would also consider purchasing Travel Insurance as it can cover you for the unforeseen. I always purchase some kind of Travel Insurance and it gives me peace of mind. Always read the fine print though!

I do hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions or if you need more information.

    Happy Planning!
