Hello there, Victoria, and welcome to planDisney!
Can you believe that your holiday is only a month away?! I am very sorry about your partner’s recent injury, but here’s to hoping that the magic of Walt Disney World will be just the pixie dust to keep the blues away. I am more than happy to answer your question regarding the
Disability Access Service (DAS).
First, do keep in mind that DAS is for Guests who have trouble waiting in queues, not necessarily for those who have problems with standing for long periods of time. I highly recommend that you look into bringing or renting a wheelchair or an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV) to help your partner get around the theme parks throughout your stay. Email Disability Services at disability.services@disneyparks.com for more information.
If you do still want to look into DAS, on your first theme park day,
visit Guest Relations near the theme park’s entrance, and a friendly Cast Member will determine if your partner qualifies for the service. If so, the Cast Member will set you up with your first
Lightning Lane selection, and you will be able to create your subsequent ones via the My Disney Experience App. As residents of Great Britain, you will not be able to register for DAS before your visit. So, you’ll want to schedule enough time into your itinerary to make that quick trip to Guest Relations to see if they’ll qualify.
AN EXTRA GEM: If it is just the two of you and there’s an attraction that they’re not able to ride with their injuries, some attractions like Expedition Everest at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park do have single rider queues. This will definitely help maximize your time together experiencing the magic.
Victoria, I hope that your family has the BEST time at the Most Magical Place on Earth! Even with the cast and crutches, you’ll be surprised by how memorable your holiday will be. If you have any other questions about your upcoming adventure,
please revisit us here at planDisney!
Magic always,
LeAndra
