Hey howdy hey, Rose! You’ve got a friend in me at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and I’d love to help you with your question!
I checked the
“Know Before You Go” page on the
Walt Disney World Resort website, and found a handy section about face coverings. As for the style of face covering required, all face coverings, whether disposable or reusable, must be secured with ties or ear loops, and allow Guests to remain hands-free. Face coverings must also fit snugly, but comfortably, against the side of the face, and fully cover the nose and mouth while remaining secure under the chin. You’ll also want to make sure your face covering is made with at least two layers of breathable material. Keep in mind that currently, neck gaiters and open-chin triangle bandanas aren’t considered acceptable face coverings. Costume masks are also prohibited from being worn.
Face coverings should be worn at all times, except when Guests are dining or swimming. While you may remove your face covering while eating or drinking, you should only do so when you’re stationary, and also maintaining appropriate physical distancing.
My family recently purchased the cutest
Disney Cloth Face Masks from
shopDisney.com, and we wear them everywhere we go! I love the soft material, and the elastic that fits comfortably around my ears. I’ve found that these masks are the only ones I own that don’t fall down every time I talk, which is such a relief! Plus, from
Star Wars to
Pixar, there’s a perfect theme for everyone in the family! I recommend checking the helpful sizing guide on the website before ordering, to help ensure a good fit. For reference, I wear a large, and my three children (ages 4, 6, and 8) wear a medium. The medium is a tad big for my 4-year-old, but the ideal fit for my other two children.
Since you mentioned visiting the Walt Disney World Resort this summer, you may want to opt for a thinner face covering to help you stay cooler. I recently visited the newly-reopened Downtown Disney District at
Disneyland Resort on a very warm day, and found that a disposable mask may have been slightly more comfortable in the heat. No matter what style you prefer, I recommend bringing several extra sets of masks, just in case your mask gets wet in a sudden rain shower, or from an attraction with a splash! To be safe, you may want to pack your extras in a Ziploc bag, or a wet/dry bag.
I hope this information helps, Rose. Please stop by with any additional questions before your summer visit… we’re all EARs!
Can’t wait to see ya’ real soon!
