I am participating in the Star Wars Half Marathon in April. I have not submitted my time and anticipate being towards the end for starting purposes. How long does it take to reach the start when the race begins at 5:30 am? Thx!

    Hi Jennifer,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question! I’m so excited to hear that you’re going to be running the Star Wars Half Marathon - The Dark Side this April!

As a proud member of the “Back of the Pack” brigade, I start most of my races in one of the very last corrals. The good news is that, when I forgot to submit a proof of time for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Fairy Tale Challenge last February, I still managed to start two corrals up from the last one (I started in F and the last corral was H).

I’m not sure what the corral system will be like for the races this April, so it’s hard for me to say when you’ll actually be able to cross the starting line. As an example, I was in Corral F last February and I started running at 5:58 am. The last runners in the last corral (i.e. the “balloon ladies”) seem to have started at around 6:40 am. So I would plan for a 6:30 am start if you’re in the absolute last corral, and be happy if you get to start earlier or if you wind up getting assigned to an earlier corral!

I hope my answer helps you plan out your race strategy. Good luck with your training and please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Race,
