Hi! We are participating in the Princess 1/2 Marathon weekend in 02/2018. I am doing the 10k and Half. My children (10 & 12) will be participating in the 5k. Will I be able to chaperone them to the starting line? Or run with them? Thank you! Christy

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Christy! I’m a fellow Princess runner! I ran the Princess in 2014, 2016, and this year ran the WDW Marathon Weekend races. I have so much fun in those corrals getting amped up!

I’m glad you’re taking on the Fairy Tale Challenge, but I can’t help but to call it by its old name, the glass slipper challenge! You will be able to ride the runDisney event buses from all Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, and enter the race village with your children for the 5k. However, no one without a bib will be allowed past the race village to the corrals. You should be able to walk them to that line and they will be just fine sticking together in a corral. You’ll see them a short 3.1 miles later at the finish line. Make sure to tell them you’ll be on the right or left side cheering for them to finish!

The next day for your family 10k, you will all be able to repeat the same process, and this time since you have a 10k bib, join them in the corrals. Since you may have different speeds, you may be assigned to different corrals, but the faster folks (A, B, C) may fall back to join the rest of the family (C, D, E). You may not move forward with a higher letter bib.

If I can help you plan out any other aspect of your race-cation, please let me know. I’ll be keeping the stead snail pace in the back! ~ Lindsey P.
