I am going to be participating in the Princess 1/2 marathon in 2014 and would like to be involved in all the activities while trying to save money. Is it ok to stay off the resort and travel in to all the activities? Or will i waste a lot of time driving?

    Hi Lisa!

Well, technically, you can stay off-property.  However, I highly recommend staying at a Disney World Resort.  All of the resorts will be "host resorts" for the Princess Half Marathon weekend, so you could choose a Value Resort to fit your budget.

RunDisney will have buses running to and from all of the race weekend events from each and every resort.  All of the events will be much easier to get to by bus, because the bus will drop you off right where you need to be.  Parking will be very busy and crowded for all the events, but especially on race morning.  The traffic is pretty bad when it gets close to race time.  If you do decide to drive, then I would definitely plan to leave your hotel no later than 3 a.m. on race morning.  This way, you can avoid the traffic stand-still and get a decent parking spot in the Epcot parking lot.

I would try to stay on-property if at all possible, it makes the weekend so much easier.  In addition to buses for race events, you will also have access to Disney transportation to all parks and Disney World Resort areas.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have other questions as you prepare for your race!
