I will be participating in the 5K January 11, 2013. I am having issues with my feet, so I am not walking as fast as I would like to be. Is there a time limit on the 5K? I am hoping I can improve in the next month and I don't want to drop out of the 5K.

    Hi Kathy!

I am so sorry to hear about your feet issues.  Injuries are such a nuisance for runners, and it's always a hard call on whether to keep on running or give yourself time to heal.  I hope that you heal quickly!

There is a 16-minute/mile pace requirement on the 5K.  This means you just need to stay ahead of that pace.  There will be pacers following along at the end of the race at a 16-minute/mile.  So, technically, if you don't start at the very end of the runners, then you will have additional time ahead of the pacers.  The last group to begin will be the stroller division walkers.  If you aren't in that group, then you will have at least five or six extra minutes on top of the 16-minute/mile requirement.  (A 16-minute/mile for a 5K is just under 50 minutes)

I hope this helps!  Take care of your feet, and please let me know if you have any other questions!
