Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jonathan!
It's so nice to receive questions from fellow residents of the Palmetto State! I also want to congratulate you on your decision to participate in the
2015 Walt Disney World® Half Marathon. It's the most magical race on earth!
My advice when planning a race-cation is to save your park days for after race day. With so much to see and do at Walt Disney World® it can be easy to wear yourself out before the race has even begun. Not to mention you will need to get up by 2:30am on race morning--you won't want to have spent a full day in the parks the day before.
I suggest arriving Friday by mid-morning or early afternoon. This will allow you plenty of time to attend Disney's Health & Fitness Expo for packet pick-up at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, check in to your resort and be able to have some down time before Saturday's race. Take Saturday to run, rest and then recover by walking around Downtown Disney. Head to bed early Saturday night and then you'll be ready for a few fun-filled days in the theme parks--make sure to wear your race medal!
I hope this information is useful in helping you plan, Jonathan! Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have. As the runDisney Specialist on the Disney Parks Moms Panel I am here to help make your race experience as magical as possible.
Happy Training! Faith
