Hi Dana! Welcome back to planDisney! Your
Inaugural Spring Time Surprise Weekend is quickly approaching.
A runDisney weekend truly makes Every Mile Magic like no other run event can Wish Upon a Star to accomplish. With that said, being immersed at Walt Disney World Resort during
The Most Magical Celebration may seem overwhelming with 3:00 am wake-up calls to the start line.
As a veteran of runDisney weekends, here are a few suggestions.
First, treat
Expo Day as your main activity for that day. If you have must-have merchandise, I highly suggest an early arrival to get official runDisney items. Bonus tip,
Disney Gift Cards can be used to purchase merchandise. The expo has unique and fun photo opportunities throughout the
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. I also understand there is often a special craft beer brewed specifically themed to race weekends. Get the refillable cup good for discounted refills all race weekend.
Race mornings come early. Set your alarm to your favorite Disney tunes to set the mood. I try to be at the bus stop 15 minutes before the first bus is scheduled to depart. As one of the first runners at the start venue, you can take advantage of character photos with lower crowds.
Manage your park time mindfully! You are asking your body to complete the big task of running your events, enjoying the parks, and feasting on delicious treats. I personally like to shower right after my race and head straight to a park for breakfast. Make sure you hydrate, hydrate and hydrate. Take breaks and enjoy crowd watching. I never close down the theme parks on race weekends. Instead, I will take in a light dinner either pre-park departure, at
Disney Springs, or back at my resort. Take advantage of
Advance Dining Reservations 60 days prior to your arrival. Two of my favorite restaurants to celebrate my new runDisney medals are
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' and
City Works Eatery & Pour House both located at Disney Springs.
Lace up those running shoes, keep up your training, and get ready to
Run in Character.
Wishing you many Magical Miles,
Cindy
