Hiya Bryan,
Welcome back to planDisney! I always tell people that when you visit the Most Magical Place on Earth, be prepared to get your steps in. My family and I always check our step count at the end of the day and are always amazed by how many we rack up from when we wake up until we go to sleep.
While you expect to get in your steps in the Theme Parks, you don’t often account for the steps from the
parking lot. I still remember visiting the Theme Parks before the parking lot trams returned. I was pregnant, it was a muggy day in mid-March, and I was at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I’m sure you can imagine how that went. Currently, parking lot trams have returned to
Magic Kingdom Park and
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park but not yet to EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests visiting those two Theme Parks still must walk from their vehicles to the front gates.
I know this is not the news you were hoping for, but one thing that worked well for me (and something I still do) when visiting Theme Parks without parking lot trams is to plan for an earlier arrival. I reserve those Theme Parks for rope-dropping days, which means I can park closer to the Theme Park entrances (saving me the extra steps). If I’m visiting Magic Kingdom Park example, I feel comfortable waiting to arrive later in the day because I know I can catch the parking lot tram.
Bryan, I want to remind you that just because the parking lot trams are only running at two Theme Parks right now doesn’t mean it will be like that when you visit. This is subject to change, so I will keep my fingers crossed that this won’t be something you have to worry about during your visit. Please come back and see
us if you need anything else.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
