Can we get to the parks faster by driving our own car from the art of animation instead of riding the buses?

    Hi Katherine!

Having your own car during your Walt Disney World vacation gives you options when traveling around the property. This is especially true when you want to go to other resorts. Disney does not offer resort to resort bus service and you can only transfer at the parks or Disney Springs.

Heading to the parks is a different story. I prefer to use the Disney buses or boats when going to a park. By the time you drive, get into the parking lots and get a spot, hop on a tram, and reach the front gate the time is not a whole lot different then if you waited for a bus or boat. The Disney transportation will drop you off at the entrances making that especially convenient and you won't have any traffic stress. Traffic around the parks can be ridiculous during holidays and the buses know some of the back ways that guests cannot use.

Disney does offer Preferred Parking at the parks. The cost is $40 but for resort guests it is $20. This will give you parking up close to the entrance so you would not need to use trams.

I have done many Disney vacations without a car and many with a car. Having one does give you options during your vacation but sometimes we just prefer to let the driving up to the Disney drivers! Sometimes just being able to relax is worth an extra few minutes of going from your resort to the parks.
