Hi Pamela!
Welcome to planDisney.
Thank you for asking this question! I'm happy to say that all that is required for you to enter a Walt Disney World theme park is a valid park admission ticket.
This can be a physical card, a digital card that you have loaded onto your phone or mobile device or onto your My Disney Experience app, or a Key to the World card that you can request if you are a Disney Resort hotel guest. Over and above the cost of your park tickets, these are all free of charge - and perform in the same way as a MagicBand+, allowing charging to your room account, park admission, and unlocking your hotel room door.
I can understand with the popularity of
MagicBand+ and how much they can do to make our vacations easier (by storing our park tickets, enabling charging to our Disney Resort hotel room, and also unlocking our hotel room, among other things) anyone would think they are a requirement for our visit to Walt Disney World for any length of time. This is not true! It's all about your personal choice, and even if you were staying at a Disney Resort hotel for several weeks you still wouldn't be required to use a MagicBand+. (I'm now distracted by the thought of spending several weeks at Walt Disney World! Wouldn't that be the dream?)
If you visit Walt Disney World in the future you
can purchase a MagicBand+, or you can
choose not to! I prefer them for the convenience of having everything available securely on my wrist which makes my life easier. No rummaging around in my pockets to find my phone or my park tickets etc. and I really like that all MagicBand+ are waterproof so you can wear them while swimming or showering, and they are so useful for a day at the water parks! All Disney Resort hotel guests may order their MagicBands in advance at a discounted rate, via the My Disney Experience mobile app.
Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions - and you can
send me a direct question if you wish. We will be happy to help you plan your magical vacation, and keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest official news about events that may be happening during your stay.
