When are the parking lots trams coming back to WDW. I am not looking forward to walking the best part of a mile to the parks and back every day. We are staying off site so I expect the parking nearer to the parks will already be taken when we arrive.

Hi there Ruth, and welcome back to planDisney!

You must feel like Princess Anna on Coronation Day in Arendelle. For the first time in what might feel like forever, you'll be returning to the Most Magical Place on Earth! And you know what's even more exciting? You're just in time for the 50th-anniversary celebration. From new attractions like Remy's Ratatouille Adventure to out-of-this-world dining at Space 220 Restaurant, there's something incredible around every corner.

There's certainly a lot of ground to cover while enjoying the Walt Disney World theme parks. On a recent visit, I walked about 13-16 kilometers per day! I understand your concern about the lack of parking trams, so I'll give you some tips for minimizing time on your feet during your trip.

First, rather than driving your vehicle to the theme parks, consider using a taxi or ride share service like Uber or Lyft to arrive at your destination. Check out a fare estimator website to get an idea of what the average price would be to travel from your offsite accommodations. You might even find that the daily cost of a ride share service is less than a rental car plus parking fees. If you are renting a car because you plan to experience other Florida attractions during your stay, look into renting a car for just a day or two from the Disney Car Care Center or another nearby rental facility; there are several within a mile or two of Disney Springs.

We aren't sure when parking trams will be part of our world again. I suggest keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for updates. To score a convenient parking spot, try to arrive as early as possible (most parking lots open about 45-60 minutes before the official theme park opening), or upgrade to preferred parking. Since this comes with a higher price tag, using a ride share service might be a more cost-effective option.

I hope this is helpful, Ruth! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that parking trams return to service soon. Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your question, and we can't wait to welcome you back home in just a few weeks.

    Have a magical day!
