Can I park at the Wilderness lodge and take the boat to the campground for the backyard barbecue? We will be visiting the park in the morning but are not staying on Disney property. Thanks!

Hi Rebecca! Mickey's Backyard Barbecue is a wonderful dining and entertainment experience during your Disney vacation. It is one of what I consider a hidden gem at Walt Disney World.

Most of the Disney resorts have closed parking meaning parking is closed to all except for resort guests unless you have a legitimate dining or recreation reservation. If you are staying at another Disney resort you can resort hop and enjoy what other resorts have to offer by visiting them during your stay. Since you are not staying at a Disney resort I suggest you park at the Magic Kingdom and if the park is staying open late you can take the boat from the park to your Fort Wilderness dining and then take the boat back to the Magic Kingdom where you can get your car.

Your other option is to park at the Magic Kingdom and then drive over to Fort Wilderness when its dinner time. You will be allowed to park at this resort since you have a dining reservation. Parking is at the front and then you will hop on the internal bus to reach the Backyard Barbecue location which is down on Bay Lake.
