Hey Howdy Hey Chuck and welcome to planDisney!
Thank you for stopping by with your question about refunds due to a medical emergency. I will be happy to review a few things with you and get you pointed in the right direction.
The short story with your specific question is that it depends. Per Disney's
2022 Terms and Conditions for vacation packages, Disney has a firm no refunds policy which also pertains to tickets. The other part of this is that per the "Cancellations and Refunds" section, Disney does have a statement that any refund for Guests after their arrival would be at its sole discretion. Requests would have to be made in writing or by calling Disney. You can reach out to them at (407) 824-4321 and speak to a Cast Member about your situation as they will also be able to give you the specific address to submit your request to them.
Most times when it comes to theme park tickets, these can be a little more flexible. You may not have the ability to get a refund with them, but many times Disney will allow you to reuse any unused tickets for a later date. Due to the pricing structure of tickets, if you rebook them for a later date, this price may be more than what you originally paid for the tickets and you will be responsible for the difference. Expiration dates are also on each ticket, but not to worry, Disney will usually allow you to apply the price paid for the unused tickets to be put toward the purchase of new tickets.
If you have not gone on your trip yet and are concerned about this situation, you also might want to consider
travel insurance. Disney does have a plan that you can add up until 30 days from your trip for vacation packages. There are also many other options available through other providers that may address your specific concerns, just make sure to read the policy.
Hopefully, that helped to give you a little more insight into this process and the steps needed. Please feel free to reach out and let us know if you have any further questions, we would be happy to help.
Have a Magical Day,
Nick
