Do park reservations need to be made at the time I purchase our park tickets? Or can I purchase the tickets now and make the reservations for each park at a later time?

    Hello Madelyn,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. It looks like you are getting a jump start on your magical vacation!

There are so many details that go into planning a Walt Disney World vacation, as fun as the process is, it can be overwhelming at times to make sure you remember everything. You've probably just figured out the best dates for your vacation. It sounds like you are at the stage of selecting your resort hotel and park tickets. You'll be happy to know that while you will need a theme park reservation for each day, that is not something you need to decide right now.

You'll want to keep an eye on the reservation availability calendar and once you start seeing the dates close to your vacation turning from green (all parks available) to yellow (some parks available) you'll know it's time to firm up your plans. Usually you can wait until 60 days before your check-in date to determine which parks you'll want to visit each day. That will allow you a little more flexibility when you make your dining plans and any reservations for Enchanting Extras. Then you can select your park days based off of those plans. Just don't forget to make those theme park reservations as soon as you've figured out which parks you'll be visiting on each day.

Hope this helps. Enjoy the planning process and stop by with any other questions you might have.

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
