Hiya, Vicki!
Welcome to planDisney from a fellow Buckeye! I'm so glad you stopped by with your question. It looks like you and your son will be arriving at Walt Disney World Resort in less than a month –– I bet the excitement is
really starting to set in! Since you're in the home stretch, now is the perfect time to finalize all those last-minute details on your vacation to-do list. First, I recommend double-checking that you've booked theme park reservations for each day of your visit using the
Disney Park Pass system. Remember, you'll only need to book a reservation for the first park you plan to visit each day –– if your tickets include the Park Hopper Option, you'll be able to jump to your second park beginning at 2 PM each day without making an additional reservation (just be sure that you've scanned into your first park before hopping). Now is also a great time to make a few
advance dining reservations to enjoy during your stay. During the hot summer months, resting your feet and fueling up in an air-conditioned spot is the perfect way to recharge and help you enjoy the rest of your day –– if you haven't already done so, I definitely suggest adding a few table service meals to your itinerary.
When it comes to accessing theme park admission and Genie+ Lightning Lane selections with kids, you're going to have a few options for tapping in at Walt Disney World theme parks. If your son is too young to have a device of his own, you can either create a
Disney MagicMobile pass for him (which will be stored in the digital wallet of your phone), stop by any theme park ticketing window to request an admission card, or use a
MagicBand. If you choose to add his MagicMobile pass to your phone, you should see those grouped together on your device –– after scanning your pass, you can simply tap on his pass so it can be scanned as well. If you choose to use a card or MagicBand, he'll be able to scan at each checkpoint on his own.
If your son has his own mobile device, he'll have the option to store his ticket in his own digital wallet. If he's over the age of 13, he can create his own Disney Account and download the
My Disney Experience mobile app to create his own Disney Magic Mobile pass. If he's under 13 (or you prefer that he doesn't have his own account), he can still store the pass on his phone, it will just need to be created by you. To do this, all you'll need to do is create a Disney MagicMobile pass using the My Disney Experience app on your own phone and then tap "Select Passes to Share". This will allow you to send the pass to him via text message, which he can then save to his own phone. We used this method during our last visit with our daughter who is under 13 –– she loved being able to access her ticket from her phone, even though she's still too young for her own account.
Thanks for visiting planDisney, Vicki. If you think of new questions as your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort visit approaches, I hope you'll stop by again –– we're always here to help!
See Ya Real Soon,
Amy
