Hi Andrew! Welcome to planDisney!
Oh boy! You must be excited about your upcoming stay at the
Walt Disney World Resort. Six days to explore the parks will allow you to take each day at a slower pace and enjoy what each one has to offer. My family used to be on the go at all times, racing from attraction to attraction, trying to fit it all in. It wasn't until we took an extended stay that we got to appreciate all of the little aspects that make Walt Disney World the Most Magical Place on Earth! I'm excited you'll be arriving at the perfect time to take in all of the festivities surrounding the
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration, especially since each theme park is celebrating in a different fashion.
As you are aware, when
purchasing a 6-day ticket, you are allotted a nine-day window to use them. Disney bases the price per day of your ticket on the number of days purchased. For example, the price per day of a 6-day ticket is going to be higher than the price per day of a 7-day ticket. The only way to expand the given window is to increase the number of days on your ticket.
I would highly consider this as your most viable option. I just played around with how much a 6-day, 7-day, and 8-day ticket cost on a select date range, and the cost increased only slightly for each option. The window to use the tickets in went from nine days up to twelve. Even if you don't plan to use the larger number of days, the better value to you may be to have more flexibility in which days you visit. I used a similar tactic on my most recent trip because we planned to incorporate rest days throughout and enjoy the recreation at our resort. We still made
park reservations for the number of days that we purchased but did not use them for an open-to-close day at the park. One of the nights, we visited
EPCOT just to watch the new nighttime show, Harmonious.
The only other option you may have is to purchase single-day tickets for an extra day or two that you may need outside of your allotted window. Unfortunately with this option, you will need to pay full price for these tickets since it will not be part of the multi-day discount you receive with your other purchase. I would advise against this option, but if the additional dates you need are further out on the calendar, then this may be your only option.
Andrew, I hope you find this information helpful in planning your upcoming June visit! There is nothing quite like a summer vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort!
See ya real soon!
