Hello and Bonjour Samantha, I'd like to wish you a super warm welcome to planDisney from one Canadian to another!
Embarking on any new adventure can be daunting, and I can only imagine what it must be like to experience a whole new digital world of mobile apps and reservations when planning your trip down to Walt Disney World Resort. We recently hosted a number of Canadian friends and family here for their first time using these new features during their
Magic Kingdom Park day and I spent a lot of time guiding them through using each to their advantage until they were confident enough to use it on their own.
From this learning experience I can provide a few helpful tidbits that can help you get started:
- Download the My Disney Experience mobile app and take some time before your trip to play around, look and learn what each button does and where to find what you're looking for.
- The Tip Board will be one of the most important things to look at over the course of your day, so be sure to watch these handy videos to help you be more familiar with it.
- Some rides and attractions have a shorter queue and faster access referred to as the Lightning Lane entrance, which can be accessed by purchasing Disney Genie+ service via the Tip Board on your mobile app. It will allow you to select and reserve return times for many rides and attractions one at a time over the course of your day - with the exception of a very popular ride like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which must be purchased separately on its own.
- While there are no Virtual Queues currently being used for Magic Kingdom Park experiences, more information will be made available online if they will be required to experience any popular upcoming rides or attractions.
Hopefully this was a helpful way to get you started; there's definitely a lot of new information out there but know that we're always here at planDisney to provide knowledge and point you in the right direction.
