If I have a park reservation at the Magic Kingdom and I enter the park at opening but then leave to go back to the hotel for lunch/pool - will I be able to return to the Magic Kingdom later that same evening, or will I need a new park reservation?

    Hello Meredith,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question!

While I do know a few people who can get to Magic Kingdom at rope drop (park opening), spend the entire day, and still be going strong after the fireworks, most people benefit from some downtime in the middle of the day to refresh, recharge, and refuel.

You only need to make one park reservation per day. Heading back to your resort mid-day to eat, swim, or even grab a power nap can really help revive you and everyone in your party. When you are ready, you can head back to the park for more fun!

Don't want to head all the way back to your resort, but want a change of atmosphere and a chance to relax a little? Consider making lunch or dinner reservations at one of the restaurants in the Contemporary Resort, which is just a short walk or monorail ride away. Likewise, you can take a boat ride to Wilderness Lodge Resort. Whispering Canyon Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants. While not exactly relaxing, you will definitely get your fill of food and fun!

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
