If going to a park after 2pm does one need a reservation?

Well hi there Gayle, and welcome to planDisney!

Since the implementation of the Theme Park Reservation System in more recent years, many folks find it to be a very different approach to planning for your visit that's very rewarding for those who like to prepare, plan ahead and carefully read everything over once they've purchased tickets or booked their stay.

At the current time, a Theme Park reservation is still required after 2:00 p.m. EST for guests entering either Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios or Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, with a few exceptions:

Bear in mind that this information is subject to change and there may be a chance that the policy may be different in the future by the time of your visit! For this reason, I recommend keeping a close eye on the Disney Parks Blog for the latest news and updates from official sources.

In the meantime, I also highly recommend checking the Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar and downloading the My Disney Experience Mobile App to make your Theme Park Reservations and make sure they're all set before you head to them. (I've definitely caught myself on at least one occasion suddenly remembering to make a reservation while en route and being very thankful for the relative ease of doing so right from my device; I've also found some reservation availability opening up in the afternoon on previously booked-out dates!)

I hope this helps, Gayle! Don't hesitate to come back to planDisney again to ask me anything else ahead of your next visit.

Here's to your next Disney adventure - it's out there!
