You brought a great question to planDisney, Stacey! Understanding the best ways to maximize your time in the Disney Parks by spending less time waiting in lines is an important part of planning your Disney World vacation!
The former Fast Pass system has been replaced with
Lightning Lanes! Lightning Lanes allow Guests to pre-purchase select attractions and experience a shorter wait in line! There are three kinds of Lightning Lanes:
1)
Lightning Lane Single Pass – Guests can pre-purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass to experience the most popular and in-demand attractions in the Disney Parks! For example, at Magic Kingdom, you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and/or TRON Lightcycle / Run! Each Single Pass attraction is individually priced.
2) Lightning Lane Multi Pass – this pass allows Guests to pre-purchase up to three select attractions (not including attractions available with Lightning Lane Single Pass). My favorite part about Multi Pass is that you can continue to select additional attractions (pending availability) as you begin using your initial three passes! This is at no additional charge! This is the pass that my family uses most frequently. It is cost-effective and saves us time on our favorite attractions!
3) Lightning Lane Premier Pass – this prestigious pass gives Guests one-time access to ALL Lightning Lane attractions (covering all Single Pass and Multi Pass attractions) in one theme park on one day! This is the costliest pass of the three but will also result in the least amount of time spent waiting in lines during your vacation!
Stacey, Guests with a Disney World hotel reservation can purchase their Lightning Lane passes and select their attractions seven days before their hotel check-in date. Guests without a Disney World hotel reservation can purchase their Lightning Lane passes and select their attractions three days before their theme park visit.
