Park Hopping beginning with Animal Kingdom: 1) is it best to use Genie+ lightning lane while in Animal Kingdom or 2) use Genie+ lightning lane to reserve Slinky dog for next park for after 2:00 3) can you choose a time after 2 or get what is available?

Hey Howdy Hey Anita and welcome back to planDisney!

Oh, the strategy of planning a day in the park to maximize your time for attractions! So many things to consider on the "best" way to experience as much as you can in the time allotted. Thank you for your question on Park Hopping and using Genie+, let's go over some options to get you the best experience.

Starting in Disney's Animal Kingdom and then hopping over to Disney's Hollywood Studios sounds like a great day of Magical experiences. There is a lot to experience in each park and of course some very popular attractions at each as well. If you and your party are morning people, I would plan to use most of your Genie+ selections for Hollywood Studios as you will be there in the afternoon. If you can, take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry to experience attractions such as Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest-Legend of the Forbidden Mountain as those are two of the more popular attractions in the park. You can plan to wait in the standby lines for any of the others if you choose, but this will give you the best access to the very popular attractions in the park.

With Genie+, I would try and make as many of the Lightning Lane selections as you can for the afternoon and evening times there. Hopefully, you will be able to experience many of your "must-do" attractions in Animal Kingdom with Early Theme Park Entry and then hop over to Hollywood Studios for many of the Lightning Lane experiences.

When it comes to the times to experience the attractions, just keep an eye on the windows you are given. Instead of having the ability to pick any window throughout the day, you are usually given the next available time for an attraction which may include a couple of time slots around the same time. Attractions such as Slinky Dog Dash do fill up quickly so starting at 7:00 a.m. EST you might have the opportunity to book a Lightning Lane entrance time close to 4 p.m. but you also might have to wait a bit for the early times to fill up. You can book a specific time throughout the day with Individual Lightning Lanes if you were thinking of experiences such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance when you are in Hollywood Studios as well which may be your anchored attraction in the afternoon to build around.

I hope this information helped give you a plan to experience the most and to be efficient with your Genie+ purchase. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out and let us know, we would be happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,
