Hello, I have a park hopper option. Animal Kingdom in the morning and Epcot in the afternoon. As only one park can be reserved we selected Animal Kingdom. We are going to Epcot to ride Cosmic Rewind. How can we ensure that we get to ride it?

    Hey there, Caroline!

Welcome to planDisney. I'm so glad you stopped by with this question today.

I recently tackled an epic day of park hopping with my son, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was our absolute must-do attraction at EPCOT. As you know, there is currently no standby line for this incredible experience, but guests have the ability to join a Virtual Queue or purchase an Individual Lightning Lane to ride. In order to join a Virtual Queue, guests must have a theme park reservation for the park where the attraction is located.

Since you plan to begin your day at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you unfortunately, won't be able to join to Virtual Queue for Cosmic Rewind at 7 a.m. on the date of your visit. You can, however, purchase an Individual Lightning Lane. My son and I did the same and chose a return window perfectly suited to our afternoon park itinerary. Though it is an added expense, I personally love the option of selecting my preferred return window vs. hoping and waiting with a Virtual Queue boarding group.

If you're looking to avoid the additional purchase, you can modify your theme park reservation, subject to availability, and select EPCOT as your starting park. Alternatively, you can keep an eye on the second Virtual Queue for Cosmic Rewind which opens at 1 p.m. Keep in mind you will need to enter EPCOT in order to join this afternoon Virtual Queue. Though Park Hopper Option tickets allow you to visit a second theme park, subject to capacity, after 2 p.m. each day, I've heard of guests being able to snag a spot past 1 p.m. on lower-crowd days. I can't guarantee you'll have the same luck, but it would be pretty exciting to experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind twice in one day. When I visited with a friend earlier this year, we purchased Individual Lightning Lanes and successfully joined the 1 p.m. Virtual Queue, which made for two out-of-this-world rides- both with a different song! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to enjoy the same.

When you visit this September, EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing, so be sure to visit the many Global Marketplaces as you feast around the world. The menus were just released and I already have a list of must-eat snacks for my own upcoming visit.

Caroline, I hope this was helpful. Please come back and see us again with more planning questions. We're always eager to help!

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
