How do I park up from Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Epcot if it’s raining and I can’t use the sky liner?

Hello Jennifer, and thank you for bringing your question over to planDisney!

It sounds like you’re planning some park hopping magic during your upcoming adventure, and what fun that will be! You are absolutely right. While the Disney Skyliner is a great way to soar across the skies, it does sometimes take a little weather break. The gondolas can glide along just fine in light rain, but if lightning or strong winds make an appearance, the Skyliner will pause its flight. When that happens, Disney rolls out bus transportation as a backup. Just keep in mind that this often leads to a bit of a wait since so many fellow travelers will be funneled to the buses at once.

The same is true for the FriendShip Boats, which sail between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT’s International Gateway. They offer a breezy and scenic ride on most days, but they also take a time-out when lightning or heavy winds arrive. If the skies are stormy, you may find yourself waiting a bit longer for the next safe voyage.

Now, if you have a dining reservation waiting for you in EPCOT, or perhaps you simply don’t want to miss your first taste of a Mickey pretzel in World Showcase, I’d suggest keeping a backup plan in your pocket. Ride share services and the whimsical Minnie Van Service, bookable through the Lyft app, are wonderful alternatives. They’ll whisk you away in comfort and style, and those polka-dotted Minnie Vans always make me smile!

So whether you’re gliding through the clouds on the Skyliner, sailing the waters on a FriendShip Boat, or hopping into a Minnie Van, you’ll be on your way to EPCOT in no time. After all, every journey at Walt Disney World Resort is part of the adventure, and sometimes even the unexpected detours add to the story you’ll tell later.

    See ya real soon,
