My parents just surprised my family (husband and our 3 yr old daughter) with a trip to Disney last night. We leave in about 11 days. This will be our FIRST trip ever and there is so much out there to do I don’t even know where to start?

    Hi Delmy!

With your first trip to Walt Disney World in 11 days, I suggest going to your local bookstore and picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  In my opinion, it's the best book there is for first time visitors.  It has the right combination of text and pictures.  The book is also beautiful with stunning color photographs.  It will quickly give you a feel for what there is to do in Walt Disney World.

I also suggest trying to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs).  You really need to have ADRs if you want to experience some of the Table Service (full service) restaurants inside Walt Disney World.  You can make online reservations here.  I suggest visiting the independent website AllEars.Net and looking at the menus for the various restaurants.  The team at AllEars does a great job keeping their information up to date.

Finally, don't worry.  Walt Disney World is the crown jewel of the theme park industry.  If you show up with no planning, most likely you will still have a wonderful time.  Planning can just help you save time, experience some of the most popular things (such as full service dining), and maybe save you some money.  Have a magical vacation!
