Hello My parents and I are heading to Disney World In 4 Weeks! Both my parents are over 60, And my father has had knee surgery. He is refusing to take cruches with us on our trip. My question is, if he needs cruches or a wheel chair, could one be provided?

    Hi Melissa,

Is this his first Walt Disney World vacation?  The parks are huge!  I think recovering from knee surgery can be painful enough, but walking around for an extended period of time with no assistance could be excruciating.  You can rent wheelchairs and ECVs (motorized scooters) to use inside of the parks; however, there is a lot of walking to get to and from your resort.

There are also a limited number of wheelchairs available at each Disney Resort Hotel.  You can request on at the front desk if you find it's necessary.  A $315 deposit will be held on your account to be charged only if the wheelchair is not returned.  Again, they are provided on a first come, first served basis.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
