We (parents and grade school children) are staying at Wilderness Lodge in May. The monorail to Epcot would be fun for the kids. Can we take a taxi from the Lodge to the TTC? Will the cabbie be upset with the short ride? Is the bus better/easier in the AM?

Hi there, Curte! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Let's help you find the best way to get around the Walt Disney World Resort!

Taking the monorail to Epcot is so much fun. I love Disney's "highway in the sky," and the ride over to Epcot really lets you relax and enjoy gliding among the trees on the longest leg of the monorail line. And the loop inside Epcot offers a whole new view of the park.

As you suggest, the only direct way to travel from Disney's Wilderness Lodge to the Ticket and Transportation Center would be by taxi. Even taking a bus from the Wilderness Lodge would take you to the entrance to the Magic Kingdom, so you'd need to take the ferry or the monorail back to the TTC. I think I'd probably take the Resort Launch boat to either the Magic Kingdom or Disney's Contemporary Resort, then hop on the monorail to the TTC. It's a nice, leisurely trip, and transferring to the Epcot monorail at the TTC is just a few steps to the other track.

When you check in at the Wilderness Lodge, you might ask a Cast Member which method they'd recommend. They usually have the best perspective on how to get around Walt Disney World, since they have to do it every day.

I hope this helps you make your plans, Curte. Please visit us again if you have any more questions. Wishing you and your family a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
