My parents, Florida residents, bought me and my girlfriend tickets to WDW for Christmas. We are planning on going this weekend but they are not going to be with us. Can they activate the tickets either over the phone or some other authorization method?

Hi Sean, and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you had a very merry Christmas, indeed. What a wonderful thought for your parents to give you and your girlfriend tickets to Walt Disney World! I bet you're excited to get your weekend adventure started, so let's go!

Okay, the first thing we need to do is determine the process your parents used to purchase the tickets. There is a method for gifting Disney tickets to someone, which would prompt the purchaser to enter the name of the gift recipient in their order. In other words, if your parents put your names on the tickets and not their own, you should be golden. If they didn't use the gifting method and their names are on the tickets, the purchaser would need to pick up the actual Admission Cards by showing their ID and the credit card used to buy them. You can check your ticket confirmation to see whose name is on them, or just ask your parents. If they are under your parents' names, I suggest having them call Guest Services and explain that they were meant as a gift, and see if they can be switched to you and your girlfriend. Then, when you arrive at the Theme Park, just head to a ticket window with your confirmation and your IDs and you can pick up your ticket to the World!

Once that's done and we're all squared away with the names on the tickets, let's make some plans! One important thing to know right now is that Disney is requiring allGuests to make an advance reservation for the Theme Park they plan to visit eachday as part of its phased reopening plan. If you haven't already, go ahead and download the My Disney Experience app on your phone and link those tickets using the number you should have received in your confirmation. While logged into your My Disney Experience account, hop on over to the Disney Park Pass page and choose the date and Park you want to visit. Then just follow the prompts, and you'll receive a confirmation of your reservation for that day. Repeat the process for the other days of your trip, and BOOM! You've got your weekend plans!

I hope you find this helpful, Sean. If you still have questions, please feel free to stop by and see us again, or call Guest Services at the link I provided above. I wish you lots and lots of Disney magic!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
