Bright Suns, Chloe! It's so exciting that your family is going to experience a journey to a galaxy far, far, away when you jet off to the planet Batuu for yourselves this October and land at
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
While we don't know yet if the
Rider Switch service will be available when
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run opens at
Disney's Hollywood Studios this August, but we might be able to find a few clues from how the attraction works at
Disneyland Resort, which opened its own version of Star Wars: Galaxy Edge in May. Although it's not guaranteed to work the exact same way at Walt Disney World Resort, guests are able to use Rider Switch at
Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run at
Disneyland Park.
While you should be able to use Rider Switch later this year on our vacation, everyone who intends to ride needs to be present to receive a Rider Switch entitlement, so your husband would not be able to get one for you without you and your six-year-old being there. When you're all ready to go together, you can approach the attraction podium and let a Cast Member know you'd like to ride using Rider Switch. You'll tap your
MagicBand to receive a Rider Switch return time and your husband and son will wait in the line while you stay back with your younger child. This is a great time to visit
Toydarian Toymaker or maybe cool off with some refreshing Blue or Green Milk from the
Milk Stand! When they're finished their turn on the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, you can use the Rider Switch entitlement to bypass the standby line for the attraction while your husband stays back with your little one. Here's a bonus for your older son: since the Rider Switch entitlement is good for up to three guests, he can ride twice if he wants to!
I hope this answers your question, Chloe, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
