Panning a trip to Disney in March or April of 2024. First time for grandchildren, wanted to know the best place to stay, a good time to come and best recommendations you can give! It’s been a long time since we were there.

    Hi Patty,

Thanks for stopping by with this question!

There's a lot to factor in when it comes to choosing the perfect resort for a particular stay. Budget, theming, and transportation options vary across the Disney Resorts Collection, but I have a few suggestions for you to consider.

When I think of Walt Disney World Resort the iconic Cinderella Castle shining at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. is the first image that comes to mind. This beacon calls guests toward magical memories from the minute they enter Magic Kingdom Park. If you plan to spend a good portion of your visit exploring the worlds of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy (which I highly recommend doing with young children), I'd encourage you to choose accommodations on the Resort Monorail loop. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Contemporary Resort, and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort are all beautifully themed, feature some amazing restaurants and pools, and offer streamlined Monorail access to Magic Kingdom Park. These Deluxe Resorts do come with a higher price tag than some of the Moderate and Value options, but I love boarding the Monorail to head back to my room after a long day of memory making. If your grandchildren are still in strollers, you'll have the added bonus of cruising your way to naps, pool time, or bedtime without having to collapse the stroller as you would on buses. This is subject to crowd levels and Cast Member discretion, but it's typically a huge perk.

Disney's Art of Animation Resort is always my other top recommendation for families with young children. The grounds feature colorful details and fun photo ops from some of my favorite films, and The Big Blue Pool is a great spot to "just keep swimming" when the Florida heat and humidity call for a cool down. This Value Resort also features transportation to Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT via Disney Skyliner. My kids love soaring to the parks in a themed gondola, and like the Monorail, the Skyliner is another great option when strollers come in to play.

Since you're planning to visit in the spring, you'll want to spend time at EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. Your grandchildren will love exploring the beautiful character topiaries, participating in Spike’s Pollen-Nation Exploration, and getting up close and personal with winged friends at Butterfly Landing. The adults will enjoy feasting on snack and drink options at the Outdoor Kitchens and singing along during the Garden Rocks Concert Series.

If you have your sights set on attractions you'll want to consider purchasing Disney Genie+ Service for expedited wait times during your trip. This is especially helpful with little ones who may not have adult-sized patience just yet. When those tummies get hungry a Character Dining experience is the perfect combination of food and fun!

Feel free to reach out to me directly for more suggestions. I'm happy to help!
