Hi Moms Panel: We will be coming to Disney in May for our b/g twins 7th birthday. I am only 3 days away before the 180 days for adr. We would like to do Chef Mickey for breakfast but how does the timing work for reservations? We do have the dining plan.

    Hi Carrie,

What a fun way to celebrate a family birthday! I'm not sure what you mean by the timing. If you mean how long does the experience generally take, I would plan on being at the restaurant 90 minutes. I feel like that is a general rule of thumb that will include the time spent getting your picture taken and waiting to be seated. The characters will rotate to your table, and there will be some opportunities for kids to get up and move around a bit. I think once you are seated it generally takes about 45 minutes for all of the characters to make it to your table. This is only an estimate. It could take a little longer, but that's my general observation.

If you're asking about when you should make your reservation, then the answer is as soon as your 180 day window opens up. Chef Mickey's is extremely popular, so it should be one of the first reservations you make. It helps if you are willing/able to be flexible with your dates.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
