Hello Moms Panel-quick question: since Star Tours will be closed during our December 2010 trip, will Jedi Academy still be available? How about build your own lightsaber-only at DD? Our inquiring 5 year old Jedi wants to know! Thanks!

Hi Sherry! At this point, I have been unable to receive confirmation on whether the Jedi Training Academy will close or not. However, I did just speak with Guest Relations and the Cast Member told me that she is under the impression that it will in fact be closed during the renovation. You may want to call 407-W-DISNEY closer to your vacation and check for updated closing information.

You can, however, inform your little Jedi that he/she will be able to build their own lightsaber at the Once Upon a Toy Store in Downtown Disney. My sons thoroughly enjoyed doing this. A one-sided lightsaber is currently $19.92, and a two-sided one is $22.95.  When our sons did it, they chose whether they were a "Jedi" or "Sith" and each received a trading pin that signified which they were. Naturally, being brothers, they had to choose opposing sides so they could have proper lightsaber duels. ;)

Hope this helps and that your Star Wars fan has a great time!
