Hi Katrina,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your excellent question! I have a little guy who is almost 3 and he’s already a Walt Disney World veteran. I went to Disneyland Resort a few times before we had our little guy, we’re planning our first trip there as a family in early 2016 and we can hardly wait!
Although I adore Disneyland Resort, my first instinct would be to recommend a longer trip with your toddler and to therefore recommend Walt Disney World Resort for your Christmas 2017 trip. I’ve found that having more time to get acclimatized to a new location has been essential for my little guy (and, therefore, for all of us) to really enjoy our vacation.
In addition, Disney Parks tend to get very busy over the Holidays. A longer trip that extends for at least a week before or after Christmas Day/Week might also be more pleasant because it will allow you to take advantage of comparatively less crowded days at Walt Disney World Resort.
While there is plenty for your little guy to enjoy at Walt Disney World Resort, if, like my son, he’s a big fan of Lightening McQueen and his friends, Cars Land at
Disney’s California Adventure Park may be a big draw for him. That being said, we recently stayed in a Cars Family Suite at
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and my little guy absolutely loved it! We now refer to that Resort as “Toddler Heaven”.
I hope I’ve given you some useful information for making your choice. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
