Hi Panel, Im visting WDW over Labor day weekend, and we are flying in, I was wondering if DME gets your bags for you or if you have to pick them out and they put them on the bus. Also do people on the returing flights miss there planes at all?

    Hi Kirsten,

There are two different ways you can handle your luggage with Disney's Magical Express (DME).  If you have arranged for Disney's Magical Express service far enough in advance, which clearly you have since you won't be traveling until September, they will send you tags for your suitcases.  Attach these to each bag before you check them at your home airport.  If you do this, you will next see your luggage in your Disney resort room. (Disney Cast Members will see to it that your bags are picked up at Orlando International Airport and transported to your Disney resort room).

The other option is to claim your bags yourself at Orlando International Airport.  If this is your chosen option, do not put your DME tags on your suitcases.  After you disembark your flight in Orlando, go to baggage claim and grab your luggage.  Take the luggage with you when you board your Disney's Magical Express bus.  This second option is the one that I use most regularly because then I have more immediate access to my belongings upon arrival in Orlando.

When you are returning to Orlando International Airport at the end of you magical Walt Disney World vacation, be sure to be at the designated pick-up spot at your home resort at the time noted on your DME voucher.  If you do so, you should have no problem reaching the airport on time for your return flight.  That has always been my experience.

Wishing you a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
