Hi Mom's Panel. Going to WDW Jan 2016. May get the DDP. But family we are travelling with aren't planners. Is it possible to do DDP without planning every single table service? We will make some reservations-but wanted some spontaniety. Thks. You're super.

    Hi Sherry!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Our family really enjoys spontaneous vacations and we also love all of the yummy dining options at Walt Disney World Resort. However, I have found that trying to eat at table service restaurants without any reservations can be a very frustrating experience. So I would recommend that if you get the Disney Dining Plan for your trip, you should plan to make reservations for all of your table service meals. With our family, I have found that making reservations for breakfast, brunch, or an early lunch allows us an opportunity to get an early start to our day, enjoy a wonderful meal in a nice restaurant and even see some of our favorite Disney faces, while still leaving the rest of the day for us to find unplanned surprises in the parks.

If you choose to forgo the Dining Plan, you can still experience table service restaurants on your trip. My strategy for finding compromise is to pick a few meals that are "must-do's" and book reservations for them. Then we find counter service options for our other meals. I have also been known to use the My Disney Experience mobile app to find last minute reservations for a spontaneous table service meal.

    Have a magical day!
